Decisions about advertising

For those of you who have not yet noticed…  you must have good advertising blockers in your browser.   I have been trying to optimize some advertising space on literalminded.com, freeminded.literalminded.com and myonlinelife.org, while hopefully keeping it from intruding too much into the use of the site.

I have no delusions of getting rich from this, but I recently decided that there was no reason why the sites could not raise small amounts of funds to help cover costs and just possibly raise funds for extras and fun things like, perhaps, prizes for the LM contests (note:  this is not a promise, just a hope).

All three sites will utilise the Google AdSense blocks to some extent (they should get more closely matched to the content as time goes on), but given that writers are quite often readers, I would like to transition the bulk of LM’s advertising to the Amazon Associates ads.  So, only if you were already going to buy books from Amazon [we only get a small referral fee], perhaps you would consider using our ads — or even our Amazon search engine.  I have blatantly eliminated the book review content type in favour of an Amazon review which links to the book in the Amazon store.  We can use it as a book review with no discernible difference except the ad link.

Currently, as I consider mygiftedlife.org to be a sort of trust, rather than a site I outrightly own, I have made no decisions regarding advertising for various reasons, including that MGL may have its own ways of fundraising once they are needed and in any case I want special arrangements to be made to hold any funds specifically for MGL.

If you have comments or suggestions regarding the advertising on any of the sites, let’s discuss them.
