New Site Software

iconoclast's picture

OK, the new software is working (after a minor disaster resulting from one small thing I forgot). Now we’re able to post, and I need a lot of help.

First, can all members please copy their notes over to the new notepad and delete the old notes in their workplaces? The new system will serve us better and we should soon be able to get rid of the old one.

Second, can a staff member with the ability please go to the approval page in the admin section? I approved the several hundred existing nodes already, but I got a bit tired on the comments section and there are several hundred remaining exisiting comments to be approved.

Third, I need everyone to say everything they’re thinking about the site, whether it be about themes, something that isn’t working, something they want or anything else. This needs to be a dialogue between all of us, working together to make this site the best.

There may be a few bumps in the short term, but everyone just keep using the site the way they usually do until we have it running like clockwork.

I have time. I can approve

I have time. I can approve if you tell me how.

Yeah, that’s it.

Hmm...

(WD, I got the comments approved, but here’s how to get there: click on administer, then approval. It will show you a list of unapproved comments to check)

Okay, now WD and I are both having trouble with the editor; I put spaces between my paragraphs, and it removes them…

Also, I don’t know how to access my old workspace, now. It was not one of the blocks I copied over (should I say oops?), because "notes" was already there.

I know they’re somewhere, but you must hold the only key. lol

OK, so far:The editor is

OK, so far:

  • The editor is set to remove extra whitespace, I’m going to fix that, because typographically we don’t want that happening.
  • solved? — Zaftig found a bug where she doesn’t get a tab to edit her old things that were carried over.  I think I’ve fixed the problem with IE that made blank editor screens.  Anyone else find it?
  • I got lazy and found a way to approve everything in the database.  Duh.  But at least now I know.
  • Avatars and badges  (and titles) have not been themed in yet, I plan on doing that tomorrow.
  • Flash is required in order to see the special titles.  If you don’t see them, you must not have the plugin installed.
  • The "duplicate entry" problem when editing should be fixed now, let me know if it isn’t.
  • The workspace  needs to be added back into the toplinks,  I’ll find the link in the "views" section of the admin.
  • I’ve deactivated the nodeaccess (which would override the normal taxonomy access) until I get the mess sorted out.  Ignore the details, it was interfering with the proper accesses for people, but it’s off now.

I’ll be back in a little bit.

Flash makes sense, ok. WD

Flash makes sense, ok.

WD also had the no edit tab problem

OK, Internet Explorer had

OK, Internet Explorer had some problems with the editor which made it a blank field.  I’ve fixed that, although I always recommend Firefox anyway.  Eye (text smileys also fixed, btw.)

I’m not seeing a lack of edit tabs when I masquerade as a normal user (it lets me see the site from the same perspective as a particular person for researching these errors).  I need any specific nodes that this is happening with in order to track the problem down if it happens again.

I’ve also cut out the default settings on the filters which cut out whitespace, since we want whitespace.  We want things to appear the way we make them.  Centering, lists, all that stuff works on the editor.  In fact I’m using the editor in IE in order to make this post, to test my fixes.

My apologies to everyone

My apologies to everyone who got bombarded with emails about subscription updates, because the site has the memory of a goldfish.  It looked at all the content that had been brought across, didn’t recognise that it had already been published and said, "Ooh, that’s new!".  Similar to the goldfish swimming in a bowl who is surprised everytime he swims past the castle.

It shouldn’t happen again.

LOL

Poor goldfish.  Well, at least he stays happy.  Unless it’s a dark, forboding castle…

I've got...double vision...

All but the first entry in Live Discussions are showing up twice.

Notes

Zaftig's picture

When I delete a note, it works but gives me this message on Pepto pink:

user warning: You have an error in your SQL syntax near ‘USING (spam_tracker, trackback_received) WHERE spam_tracker.source=’trackback’ A’ at line 1 query: DELETE FROM spam_tracker USING (spam_tracker, trackback_received) WHERE spam_tracker.source=’trackback’ AND spam_tracker.id=trackback_received.trid AND trackback_received.nid=519 in /var/www/vhosts/literalminded.com/httpdocs/includes/database.mysql.inc on line 172.

Also, deleting a note takes a lot of clicks (click the note, EDIT, DELETE, Are you sure? DELETE).

Hmm, again...

I’ve gotten the same error message as zaftig, when deleting a note.

Something new I’ve noticed:  I don’t see zaftig’s comments listed in "Recent comments".  What’s up with that?
